Research ethics are mainly of two fi elds; research integrity and publication ethics. Research misconducts can occur at both areas. Examples of the research integrity violations are falsifi cation, fabrication, and plagiarism; and those of the publication ethics violations are duplicate publication including self-plagiarism, and improper authorship. In this paper, concepts of research misconducts defined in Research Misconduct-related Rules of The Korean Society of Microscopy are explained and discussed.
